UC Merced’s Small Business Development Center Regional Network recently received a $90,900 federal grant that will help foster technology-oriented businesses in the Central Valley, the university announced Wednesday.
The network is the only entity in the state, and one of 22 in the nation, to receive this funding.
The Federal and State Technology grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration is to be used to support entrepreneurs through workshops and training. The new funding will allow SBDC to guide business owners, faculty members and researchers in the application process for funding through programs such as the Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer, which support researcher-initiated projects. For example, businesses would receive help from consultants in developing competitive grant proposals.
